Probate Administration

When a person dies with assets in their name, those assets typically pass through the probate process. GSS Trust serves as Personal Representative (aka Executor, Administrator) of probate estates, managing the inventory of assets, payment of debts and taxes, and ultimate distribution to heirs or beneficiaries. We work closely with estate planning and probate attorneys throughout this process.

With a dedicated Property Management department, GSS Trust can handle the most burdensome aspects of settling an estate, which generally comprises handling personal property and real property, more efficiently and expertly than our competitors. This ensures that your beneficiaries receive their inheritance in a timely and efficient manner, all while offering the transparency and responsiveness one should expect from a local, regulated trust company.

Wills often nominate alternative executors to plan for a scenario in which the primary executor is unable to serve when required. It is always wise to have a professional fiduciary named as a backup in case this occurs.

GSS is sometimes appointed as successor Personal Representative in probates in which the named executor is unavailable or unwilling to serve due to personal reasons. In addition, GSS is appointed to settle probates in which the named executor has been removed by the court for failure to perform their duties.
