OUR SERVICES

What We Offer

A trust is a fiduciary relationship in which one party, the trustor, gives another party, the trustee, the right to hold title to property or assets for the benefit of a third party, the beneficiary.
In-house property managers handle all real estate matters, from overseeing routine maintenance and long-term rental management to property sales and purchases.
GSS provides exemplary care management to many of its trust beneficiary and power of attorney clients. In addition, we offer these services on a contract basis and can tailor them to the needs of you or your loved one.
Tax department staffed with CPAs and IRS Enrolled Agents who handle fiduciary income tax returns, tax reporting, and coordination with your existing CPA.
Agent services under financial and healthcare DPOAs, including financial management, care management, and after-hours response for healthcare clients.
Trustee services specializing in all types of trusts, including revocable living trusts, irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts, and settlement trusts. Click here to learn more about the different aspects of trust administration.

Institutional Knowledge & Experience

GSS Trust has had the same ownership since 1985. Ten of our staff members have been with GSS for more than 10 years, and several for more than 15 years. That depth of experience makes us better prepared to handle a wider array of clients and challenges than any newer or smaller firm.

Flexibility

We do not have an asset minimum, and we do not need to be in charge of everything. We work alongside your existing advisors — your wealth manager, CPA, and estate planning attorney — and take on only the roles you need us for. One role or several, the scope is up to you.

Responsiveness & Reliability

Every GSS Trust client is assigned a dedicated staff member who serves as their primary point of contact. Company policy is to return calls and emails same day or within 24 hours. Assigned staff members cover each others absences, and an after-hours line is available for clients in which GSS holds a healthcare oversight role.

Regulations, Oversight & Controls

GSS Trust is a Washington State chartered trust company regulated by DFI, the same body that oversees state-chartered banks. We undergo DFI examinations every 18 months, receive an annual independent audit, and maintain dual-authorization controls on all financial transactions.

Our Diverse Staff

Our team of 30-plus professionals reflects the full diversity of the clients we serve, across generations, backgrounds, and languages.

People Passing Down Wealth

We work alongside your existing team of estate planning attorneys, CPAs and investment advisors to make sure your wishes are carried out the way you intended. Your advisor keeps the portfolio and GSS handles trust administration and distributions.

Aging Adults & Seniors

For individuals who don’t have family able or willing to step in, GSS Trust serves as Agent under Durable Powers of Attorney for both finances and healthcare. When the time comes, we have the staff and resources to expeditiously settle your trust or state.

Individuals with Special Needs

GSS Trust has spent decades managing Special Needs Trusts with a real understanding of how distributions interact with government benefits. We coordinate with benefit agencies and care providers to protect eligibility while enhancing quality of life.

Personal Injury & Settlement Recipients

GSS staff are experts in settlement trust administration, making sure funds are invested carefully and spent according to the terms of the trust document, including court-monitored trusts for minors and individuals with disabilities.

Individuals Without Family Support

For those aging solo, without adult children, or whose family members are too busy or too far away, GSS can fill the fiduciary roles typically held by family without burdening the people you care about.

Family Not Getting Along

When family dynamics make it impractical for one person to serve as trustee without creating conflict, GSS steps in as a neutral third party with no stake in the outcome. We follow the governing documents so you can let family be family.

Estate Planning Attorneys & Professionals

GSS works directly with estate planning attorneys, elder law attorneys, wealth advisors, and CPAs who need a reliable, regulated institutional trustee to recommend to clients. We welcome co-trustee arrangements and are happy to hear from you or your clients for a free initial consultation.

Not Sure If You Need a Professional Fiduciary?

Choosing fiduciary, trustee, personal representative, or power of attorney agent is one of the most important decisions in the estate planning process. A family member is often the default choice, but there are plenty of situations where a professional is the better fit. We’ve put together a plain-language guide to help you think it through..
